Martyn's Tyre Opinions

September 1999

I am in the process of updating the site.  This is a lot of work -- essentially it involves doing each page from scratch again.  Please be patient.  I am, however, doing the Descriptions page first and keeping that up to date; that will at least let you see what I think of the current tyres now available. [13July2001]

Please also update your links to this page to be:

Most Important Note

I am not a tyre engineer.  The suggestions I make are just that, suggestions.  You are the only one who can decide what to put on your bike, and you are wholly responsible for determining the suitability and safety of any given tyres for any particular bike.

An Apology

I'm sorry I haven't been able to reply to your emails as much as I would have liked.  Things have been rather busy for a while here, and I'm only now getting the chance to go back and catch up.  Sorry!

What Would I Do?

This table, which contains all the links to the individual motorcycle pages, lists a combination for each bike.  This listed combination is what I would fit if the bike were mine.  Just because I would do it doesn't mean you should too.  Like  I said above, read the whole pages and work out why I would fit those...

Table of Tyre Descriptions will be added when ready.  In the meantime, don't expect any useful information at the other end of this link.

Josh Fielek has kindly given permission for his Tire Article to be used on these pages.  Josh and I see eye to eye on most tyre-related issues, except that he of course uses the American English spelling... :-)

Comments and Requests

I welcome comments, and individual requests to add bikes to the list.  I'll try to at least acknowledge all comments, but be aware that I have a real job and it may take me some time to get to your mail.  Also, I give priority to TriDoD members -- if you're in the TriDoD, you're a lot more likely to get your bike added sooner than if you're not.  Please use the following mailto links, as they'll send stuff to the right place with the right subject line to get my attention.
