For any motorcycle where it's available, this classic combination from Metzeler is always a good choice.  Good traction in wet and dry, confidence-inspiring linear profile, and decent tread life make this a fine selection.

Despite the solid reputation of the ME-Z1/Z2 combination, Metzeler has surpassed them with the new ME-Z4.  This is an excellent tyre indeed, and for any sort of riding it will perform superbly well.  Good life, good wet and dry traction, good stability, and a confidence-inspiring linear profile: it really is that good.

The only problem with Metzelers is the cost.  Dunlop undercuts them (and everyone else!) with their D205 Sport/Touring tyre, and while it's not as satisfying for many riders, it is a very good tyre indeed.  You don't give up that much over the Metzelers -- and save a good bit in the process.

The choice here is between the Avon Azaro (and Azaro Sport) and the Michelin Hi-Sport.  Both are superb sporting tyres, and both work well on this bike.  While the Azaro will last longer and wear more evenly, when it comes right down to it in a hard corner, the Michelins have the edge.  They have an excellent profile, and stick very well indeed.  On a motorcycle that handles as well as this one, it's worth fitting the best before you hit those mountain roads.  The ME-Z3 is worth considering, but it's really designed for heavier, more powerful, and higher-speed motorcycles than a 600, so I would be surprised if it could beat the Azaros or HiSport on the F2.

Although the Michelins get the nod for pure sport-riding, I would fit the Avons because of their more well-rounded performance.  You don't give up a lot in the tight stuff, but gain ride comfort and tread life, with a more even wear pattern.  For those of us who don't trailer their bikes, it's nice not to square off the tyres too badly before you reach the twisties.  The exception is that the AV35 front is prone to cupping and uneven wear; I might consider an AV27 instead, which would be a better tyre for general riding, and still sticks very well.
