There's one set of tyres that stand out above all the rest for the later midsize Intruders, and that's Dunlop's touring tyres.  For any type of riding, wet or dry, they'll perform very well indeed.  One of the big reasons for this is the flat profile of the rear -- that has the effect on a low ground clearance motorcycle of "raising" the bike at higher lean angles, resulting in an increased clearance towards the limits of lean.  Also, even though they're touring tyres and the Intruder is quite a powerful bike, they have enough traction to scrape hard parts even if you're hanging off in the corners.  Add that to the fact that they last almost forever, and you just can't find a more suitable tyre for this bike.

The best way to save money on tyres for this bike is to fit this Kenda on the rear.  It'll perform well enough for most riding, with decent handling and wet and dry traction.  You'll be able to break it loose if you try hard, but it is a good tyre for the bike.  For the front, the obvious choice again is the Dunlop D402.

These Dunlops are a perfect match for the bike, and they're what I'd put on there.
