Subject: [East2] Oooooooohhhh my...... From: Ian Howie Date: Thu, 13 Mar 2003 07:24:21 -0500 (EST) Well, apologies all for the emails from Mr Mask. I have to admit, when I logged in and downloaded a hundred and something emails this morning I was more than little surprised at the quantity--and then even more surprised to see him subscribed to the east list. And yes, he does occasionally use some of the words that were detected by his email filter. He may have even used them this morning when he got to work.... Back in 1998 when I used to work for Dow-UT, they were bought up by GKN in one of those acquisition moves designed to let them expand their technology base. After about a year they pulled the plug on the 'dowut' web and mail servers and the lowly staff could no longer access them, nor was mail autoforwarded to the new 'gknwa' accounts. When they closed the now-GKN plant last year and moved the technology elsewhere, they sent all the email, web, and file servers to the plant in Alabama where Mr Mask works. Yes, I am currently a contractor for GKN, and yes, GKN does make the widgets Ryan mentioned--just not at the plant where I am currently working. Here in St Louis they do machining, sheet metal fabrication, prepreg composites, and resin transfer molded (rtm) composites for military and commercial aerospace. I'm working in the RTM section making parts for the F-22 fighter. No, it's not 'classified', but some aspects of the work are 'restricted' depending on the audience. My current stint here will 'prolly be over at the end of June, and we'll see what happens after that. As for the RCR--glad to see the torch picked up. Martyn, on your idea to have it in Illinois--that'd be pretty cool since I can make it across the river into Illinois in less than 20 minutes! And yes, go and look at the website for RCR photo's. At last count there were approximately 2300 pages available for general viewing across all the sections of the site. It's time to go and make the carbon-fibre composites...
