Using an Interstate/Trans Canada route from Yahoo Maps:
(highly unlikely to correspond to Greg's route)
Ottawa, ON - Seneca Falls, NY 	377.2 km
Ottawa, ON - Cruso, NC		1704.9 km

Or about 22% of the distance. Poor bugger.
