Subject: [east] Back From: "Paul R. Luevano" Date: Tue, 2 Jul 2002 12:17:15 -0400 To: NeDoD, "East" Back from the RCR and the Rat Patrol. Short version: First, big thanks to Dave for running a first class show! The weather was fantastic, as was the food and the overall organization. It was great seeing old faces and meeting new. Left with mr pou and the brothers Atwood for points south on the Rat Patrol Sunday morning. For whatever reason, we are never able to get anyone else to come with us. Even those unemployed folks with nothing better to do. Do we scare ya all or something? Headed down to Riders Roost for two nights, then on down to the Blue Ridge Cycle Campground (under new management, but still first rate). Wednesday Bill packed up and we all headed to Deal Gap. After running the Gap, Bill had to head home (Damn the Man!), so we said our good-byes and parted ways. Thursday am, Tim packed up early and left for a 1050 mile run home, while Tom and I headed down to TWO in Suches. We spent two night there, saw evidence of a Mr. Fox visit, and then headed north again on Saturday. We headed for a new campground that just opened, Willville, off rt 58 in southern VA. Only open for 2 seasons but Will, the owner, and Two Step, the camp dog, welcomed us and we had a great stay. Definitely need to add that to our places to stay. Nice place. Sunday the goal was to head towards Gettysburg, well a flat tire on the XX threw a wrench into those plans. I had worn the 020 rear right down, and a little detour onto a dirt road let to the picking up a very sharp rock. We used Tom's Stop n Go kit to plug it, then pumped up the tire using a hand pump. Ugh. We tried to re-plug at a gas station a few miles up with a rope type plug, since the Stop n Go was leaking very slightly, but that plug failed 8 miles later, replugged again with another rope type, failed 8 miles later again, plugged a final time with another Stop n Go plug, and I decided time to get out of town, and blitzed up the highway. So Tom and I parted company. I made it to PA, where I had to get a hotel for the night. Monday, a final 4 hours of Highway, and I was home. 4000 miles later. Full report and photos eventually. -- ____________________________________________________________________ Paul Luevano | AMA * MSF |'99 CBR 600F4 (Racebike) http://teamdaemon.com | USM * CCS #898|'97 CBR 1100XX (Streetbike) Waltham, MA USA | NMA #116657 |'91 200TQ20V (Winter) _____"The purpose of man is to live, not to exist."-Jack London_____
