Subject: [east] Right Coast Ride IX - Call for Checks From: Dave McElvain Date: Fri, 10 May 2002 18:25:06 -0400 Right Coast Ride IX Call for Checks ==================================== The Right Coast Ride for 2002 will be held at the Harrisonburg - New Market KOA in Broadway, VA (outside of Harrisonburg). It will start on Friday June 21st, 2002 and will end on Sunday June 23rd. The address is: 12480 Mountain Valley Rd. Broadway, VA 22815 WHAT IS IT? A motorcycle gathering of the Denizens of Doom from the East Coast. Ride in Friday, swap lies, ride Saturday on the terrifically twisty roads of Northern VA and eastern West Virginia. Come back to camp late Saturday afternoon for dinner, and more lie swapping on Saturday night. Head back home on Sunday. WHAT THE COSTS COVER: The basic costs cover lodging for both Friday and Saturday nights. It will also cover dinner and dessert for Saturday night. Third, it will also cover non-alcoholic drinks like soda, tea, and bottled water for both Friday night, Saturday, and Saturday night. LODGING: There are two lodging options. The first are Kamping Kabins. They have a roof, windows, beds, and a small porch and can sleep up to 4 people. Some KOA Kabins have air conditioning, I don't know if these do. I've reserved 5 cabins, but am using one as a base for operations. That leaves 4 left that are up for grabs. Kabins will be issued on a first come/first served basis. I must get back a COMPLETELY filled out wavier form AND money to reserve the WHOLE cabin in order to get the WHOLE cabin. One person may send in money for the whole cabin and work out the terms for sharing it with his/her cabin mates. If you want to reserve a SPACE in a cabin, but can't fill the whole thing, we'll have to work out who will share with you. Once the cabins have been reserved, that's it. If you want to wiggle a space in one, you'll have to work that out with the reservee. If you are reserving a whole cabin, please tell me who your cabin mates will be. The second option for staying is tenting. You bring your own tent and put it on a tent site. KOA says we can have up to two tents per site. There is not an unlimited amount of tent sites, so try to arrange to share a site with someone. I'm working on additional camping area, if it's needed. FOOD: Dinner on Saturday will likely be: Pork Tenderloin or Marinated Boneless Chicken Breast, Corn on the cob AND green beans, fresh rolls, iced tea, lemonade (both in addition to regular drinks) and peach cobbler and homemade ice cream for dessert. There IS a vegetarian option, but I'll have to work that with the caterer based on demand for it. The vegetarian option will cost the same as the normal cost. You are responsible for all your other meals. DRINKS: There will be plenty of soda, iced tea, lemonade, and bottled water for Friday - Saturday night. I'm also arranging for coffee. ALCOHOL: In the past, alcohol was traditionally for provided for Saturday only. For convenience, if you choose pay for it, a selection of beer will be provided for both Friday and Saturday nights. Any other type of alcohol you wish to drink, you will have to provide. WHAT YOU WILL NEED: If staying in the cabins, you will need to bring a sleeping bag as linens are not provided. You will also need to bring a towel and toiletries. The KOA has a full mens and ladies rooms with hot water showers, sinks, and toilets. There is also a swimming pool, laundry facilities, and a public telephone. This KOA is wooded. If any attendees become a problem, I reserve the right to ask them to leave for any or no reason.
