Subject: Thanks Dave! and Awards From: Ian Howie Date: Mon, 9 Jul 2001 23:08:33 -0400 Firstly, thanks, Dave, for arranging the event at this location. Ace is open year round, and I see myself going back during the cooler months of the year for some more photography work. It was great to see everyone, and to meet some new people and put some more names to faces. After having all that fun driving around the camp in the truck, and scouting out the road over the mountain, the trip home was a fairly uneventful 12 hour slab run. That is until I got just east of Scranton, PA, on I-84. I must have found a storm cell that had gotten some bad directions on how to get to WVA, and was unhappy about missing out on the a.m. fun at the camp. It was coming down like a solid wall of water. Even at 30 mph with the wipers on maximum, visibility was very limited. Between the conditions at the camp and this storm cell, the new all terrain tires I got last Thursday were money well spent. I finally made it back to the house around 2 am and was greeted by a couple of happy hairballs. With the late arrival I was glad that I did not have to go in to work until lunchtime.... .And when I finally got to work, my manager commented that it was a good thing I wasn't where all that flooding was going on down there in WVA or I would have gotten home much late than I did! He was almost stunned when I relayed some of the goings on.... On to the awards. The Keeper of the Hangover award was not, to my knowledge, actually awarded. For those of you who might be interested in seeing what that particular award looked like, wander over to: http://www.fraon.com/tempfiles/kothaward.html The award for most memorable moment was also not awarded. If you have some nominees, please send me and/or Dave some email off list and we'll see what develops. If you got an award and it came out a little damp from that sprinkle we had on Sunday morning, send me an email off list and I'll get you squared away with a replacement. The film from this years event has been dropped off and web pages will be on the site....eventually.
