And even the goat track had its up side -- I think I lost my fear of gravel roads somewhere along the way (no doubt jarred loose in a deep rut and swept away in a raging torrent of water crossing the road ). And at least it wasn't raining on us while we negotiated the road -- I stayed completely dry except for my feet, which dried out on the way home. Happiness is dry feet. ^_^ Once on the paved roads, all was clear, except for some water and spectators on the small local road. I was able to stay north of the storm system my whole way home, so I had a blue-sky-and-white-fluffy-clouds kind of ride for 350 miles. I had to open the 'stitch vents when I stopped for gas after Charlottesville because it got so warm. My one regret (and a very small one) is I didn't get to take the nice route I had planned for the way home -- due to the late start and the monsoon moving southward, I elected to stick to the northerly high road = interstate the whole way. Safe and dry seemed somehow more important at the time. -- Melanie Melanie J. Drake | mjdrake@logicon.com '90 Honda NT650 Hawk "LadyHawk" Support Coast Guard Search and Rescue -- Get Lost!
