Subject: Call For Interest -- RCR X: immediate reply requested From: David C Lawrence Date: Wed, 9 May 2001 21:42:40 -0400 (EDT) Now that I have finally nailed down (and tentatively reserved) a location that looks promising, I can send out the summary and ask you all just who plans on coming. I'd like to firm up the arrangements. The scheduled date is July 6th to 8th. The location is in south central West Virginia, by the New River Gorge, about ten minutes from Oakhill, just north of Beckley. You'll find lots of great options for twisty roads in the area. I'm sure I don't have to do any salesmanship of the great riding in West Virginia. See http://www.aceraft.com/Info/camp01.html for an overview of the facilities. http://www.aceraft.com/Info/info02.html has directions, and this mega-URL from Mapblast that has the spot marked: http://www.mapblast.com/myblast/map.mb?CMD=LFILL&CT=37.965673%3A-81.089676%3A1000000&GAD1=&GAD2=&GAD3=Minden%2C+WV&GAD4=USA&IC=37.965673%3A-81.089676%3A8%3A&apmenu=&apcode=&AD2_street=&AD2=&AD3=Minden+WV&AD4=USA&selCategory=&GMI=&noPrefs=&Zip=25901&W=456&H=259&GC=X%3A-81.089676%7CY%3A37.965673%7CLT%3A37.965673%7CLN%3A-81.089676%7CLS%3A1000000%7Cc%3AMinden%7Cs%3AWV%7Cd%3A559%7Cp%3AUSA&lv=7&serch=&FS=&MA=1&myzoom.x=198&myzoom.y=15 Right now I'm planning on having Saturday supper as well as Saturday and Sunday breakfast catered. I welcome input regarding the catering of breakfast. I have tentatively reserved (7) cabins, (12) cabin-tents and there are enough camping areas in the same vicinity to accommodate the balance. The cabins sleep (4) comfortably and have full facilities w/hot tubs. The cabin tents sleep (2) comfortably with a twin bed for one more. Tent sites for bring-your-own tents are in the same area. Right now I am looking at a price between $40 and $50 per person, perhaps just a little less for a tea-totalling tenter. There is a Mexican restaurant close by that can accommodate a large group (such as for Friday dinner) or folks can go into Beckley for many more options. They have various other daily activities, too -- river rafting, horseback riding, a lake, and others. The only charge I found out about so far is the river rafting, $25/person. Please let me know as soon as you can your intention to attend. At this stage I will only need to know how many people will be coming and whether you would like indoor lodging or will bring a tent. Once I get the numbers in I can finalize the lodging and catering and set prices for the Call for Checks. Hoping to see you all at the Tenth Anniversary Right Coast Ride!
