Just as a general idea for starters, you could do worse than:
US 209 to Harrisburg PA
US 15 to Frederick MD (actually any WetMar route would get you here)
US 340 through Harpers Ferry to Waynesboro VA
BRP to western NC

Keep in mind all this distance on non-interstates will be unbelievably
time consuming; I'd say at a rough guess this is about an 18-20 hr ride.
