Subject: More about Dave From: Chris BeHanna Date: Wed, 28 Jul 1999 10:48:46 -0400 (EDT) I just spoke with Dave a little while ago. He was about 600 miles into his ride home on Monday (had been on the road since 0730, and the time of the accident was around 1730). It had been very hot, and was now raining. He was going into a righthand turn when he lost traction and impacted an oncoming SUV--fortunately not head-on. Dave broke his right tibia and his left femur. He now has a rod in the femur and plates and screws in the tibia. His left foot is numb and he can't move it, but his spine is fine; therefore, the hypothesis is that this is nerve damage caused by the broken femur. Being an extremities injury, it may heal, but it will take some time. Dave is at Albany Medical Center, room C-501, phone (518) 262-1045, where he will be for a week to ten days, after which he'll be spending a week or more at a rehab center. It will probably be at least two weeks before he again has access to his email. Chrispy
