We had an "adventure" on the way home -- just west of Durham, the towball for the trailer (laden with the two bikes, mind you) let go. Fortunately, the stud on teh ball was enough to keep the tongue of the trailer from nosing into the hot tarmac, and the safety chain popped the trailer up to speed. It hit the spare on the trooper, bending in the outer shell of the rear door, but not badly -- the door, rear wiper and all, appears to function just fine. Mel was driving at the time, and handled it perfectly. She braked, caught the trailer (which is when the door got bent), and guided the whole mess to the side of the road. We were within about 400 yards of a Big K-Mart (good place for a new 2 inch ball...), and well placed to get back to the trailer on the side of the freeway. All told we lost about a half hour, and a pint or so of adrenaline. Note to self: Always double check the tow ball BEFORE leaving... J Joshua J.
