I've been in WV since friday afternoon and got back today. I think I hit every back road on the eastern side of the state. Did you know you can get a motel room without a phone in that part of the world? I'm sure I'm gonna get lynched for what I'm about to type but here goes: I wanted the RCR to be within 1 days ride of my house. That put it within 1 day of Philly, DC, RTP and other major east coast metropolitan areas. Therefore I had to expect a much larger turnout than the we had in western Kentucky last year or be a grinch and turn people away. So I've been trying to find us acommodations that could house 80+ people and at a reasonable cost. I was also trying to keep the sleeping quarters indoors to allow for inclement weather. With all my calls to the area and 2 trips down to WV I've found 2 places that would meet those 3 requirements. One does not take reservations until May 15th, and I knew I couldn't wait that long, and the other had a heart attack when I asked if we could have beer. Everything else was camping only (I'd rather not camp) or $30 a night lodge rooms. So I've unilaterally decided that we return to Camp West Mar. It's cheap, it's indoors and it houses us. I have their number and I will call them 1st thing tomorrow morning to get us a date. I'm sorry if I've disappointed some (all?) of you, being Oompah is much harder than I expected especially if you're trying to do it somewhere other than your own backyard. (something to keep in mind if you get drunk and volunteer for this job) Let the gallows building begin. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Mike DiTullio |All opinions are my own, and I have mailto:michael.ditullio@lmco.com |thousands of them to donate...ask me mailto:mikedt@ibm.net |S.
