After RCR V I headed to Andrews AFB for a week long conference. THe conference wrapped up Thurs morning so I decided to take US 50 back to Ohio. I picked it up on the west side of the I-495 beltway, Fairfax, VA. The trip through the mountains was great as far as scenery and curves. The problem was all of the damn tourists in cages gawking along at 35mph or less. My BMW is not the king of acceleration and it was loaded, on coming traffic and blind curves made passing difficult at best. The road was great, the traffic was a drag. By the time I hit the long wide slab between Clarksburg and Parkersburg, I was ready for straight and fast (110mph most of the way).
