If the Grohs can make it up from Florida to Maryland, I can reckon we can trek to KY... :-) *** PRELIMINARY INFORMATION *** Where: Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park, Dawson Springs, KY This is solid unless some of the info that I'm waiting for sets off some major alarm bells. When: Not set -- I was about to ask for some feedback from the list as to how many folks would *not* want to camp, i.e. cabin, etc. When I have an idea of that, I can check on availability and pick a final date accordingly. Preferred dates: June 13-15 or July 18-20 All dates in between these clash with DoD or major rally events. The first one of those is the weekend after the Harley Digest's MITM, the second is the weekend after the Gather. For info on the site, hit: http://www.state.ky.us/agencies/parks/pennyril.htm The park is located 20 miles northwest of Hopkinsville on KY 109N. I talked with the folks there, and the place sounds ideal. They responded enthusiastically to the prospect of having a small motorcycle rally there. Costs: The dinner costs have not yet been factored in... that depends on whether we do it ourselves or get it catered, which in turn depends on the cost. :-) We'll have to truck the beer in. The area is technically "dry", meaning you can't buy it at the park, but there's no problem with us bringing alcohol (unlike NC state parks). There's no problem with late arrivals (unlike NC state parks). Campsites are $12/night. 1- and 2-bedroom cottages are available for those who can't/won't camp; costs are $89 and $99 /night respectively; the 2-br is designed for 4 people. More information to follow when I have it, and I'll announce a date ASAP after I get response from an email survey, to follow separately.
