How hot was it. I thought florida was hot on occasion, north and south carolina have my respect for heat. Anyway, Lou and I rolled into the garage yesterday (tuesday) around 5pm. We had an interesting trip home. Sunday afternoon my clutch went south on me around Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina. That was the bad news. The good news was that Roanoke Rapids has one of the few Harley Dealers that are open on Mondays. So monday morning we toddle over to Colliers HD. Well $270 later we once more have a motorcycle that likes to go down the road. It is also 5pm, 101 degrees, a heat index of 115+ and we have 670 miles left to go. So we drove till dark and stayed someplace in South Carolina. Tuesday was a delicious ride home except the heat in the afternoon. All is well that ends well. Now some thankyous. First to Grand Ompah, Mr. Bill, Where do we find these guys to put up with all this shit and do such terrific jobs?? Thank you Mr. Bill!!! Ian Howie, the groundsmiester!! All hail, you made getting up in the morning a pleasure. The coffees were superb, my only complaint, too many to drink some of each. Dave Lawrence, The Bridge Miester!! A truly fantastic and enjoyable ride. Your route sheet was terrific and Lou and I really enjoyed it, though you still need to learn that Harleys do not do 90 miles in an Hour and a half on twisty roads, hell we can't do that on straight roads ;-) John Kadis, the twisty meister!! After talking with some of the folks that took Johns ride, he also must be commended on a job well done. To Mike Beavington, the trophy miester, always a pleasure to see what can be done with some odds and ends, super glue and a terrific imagination!! The awards presentation is always a treat. Kudos to all the subompahs that helped Mr. Bill, I am sure Jim Bessette was great help and to all the others that helped keep things moving and in order. And finally, a special thanks, to all the denizens that showed up. It is always a pleasure to see the faces that belong to the names. Hope you all enjoyed the RCRV as much as we did and am looking forward to RCRVI. Jim and Lou Groh groh@mail.coe.fsu.edu
