At present, it looks like "rutting season" as some might call it. ;-) It's a virtual carbon copy of RCR-IV except that I'm working with the National Weather Service, NASA, etc to assure better weather this year. Dinner will be catered on Saturday night (inc. veggie meals) with a beer bash afterwards (non-alcoholic beverages also available). Accomodations for Friday and Saturday nights consist of bunkhouses that handle 30-40 people each. They're dormitory style w/ a few small semi-private rooms, possibly to be reserved for the ladies (comments?). There is plenty of camping space available as well, tho' I don't think there will be any price break for campers. The cost/person for the bunkhouses is cheaper than you can get into most campgrounds, so it'll purely be a matter of personal preference. Costs at this time look like $35 for those who wish to partake of frosty barley & hop beverages on Saturday night, $25 for teetotalers. (Except for Chrispy; like I *really* believe the Zorb is not going to partake of a few ales and porters... ;-) This includes two nights lodging (Fri/Sat nights), and the dinner and other sorted and assorted festivities Saturday night. What a bargain! Here's what I need from all of you at this time: * If you're reasonably sure you will be attending, send me some email at . Do NOT send it to the list, lest the bandwidth gremlins nibble at your bun. Let me know how many people will be in your party, if any will be wanting veggie meals Saturday night and whether or not you'll be consuming the fine assortment of beers that will be stocked. Items for comments to me, or possible discussion on the list: * Last year there were donuts, bagels, coffee and tea for breakfast on Saturday and Sunday mornings. While these were well received and seemed to suffice, it was a fair bit of work for those involved in getting things together and running the breakfasts. We are looking into possibly hiring somebody to do breakfasts for us. Questions: Who is interested in having catered breakfasts? Do you want a full breakfast or just a continental breakfast similar to last year? How much extra would you be willing to pay for this service? As last year's breakfasts were covered in the same $35/$25 attendance fee, a catered breakfast will already be partially underwritten. Note that if we don't cater breakfast we'll need volunteers to run it ourselves or will have to go offsite for that. There appeared to be relatively little in the immediate area (Cozy's at the next exit down US-15, etc). * Is there any interest in renting the pool again? It wasn't very expensive, only ~$75 as I'd recall. * It'd be nice to have fancy nametags for people, similar to those that have been seen at the Spring Fling and Canadian Assaults. Do we have any volunteers to do this? I can look into having some made commercially, but that'll eat more into overhead expenses than doing it ourselves. With the folks we have in this group, this shouldn't be too big a deal. * I'd planned to start the Saturday night beverage service with the list of beers/sodas and relative quantities from last year and massage it from there, but I've hosed my copy. :-( If anybody has that in their archives, could you please forward me a copy? Also in this vein: Jack Tavares: What's your magic formula for beer quantity computation? Chris BeHanna: What was left over from last year? * Any volunteers to put together group rides for Saturday? * Who is the current owner of the RCR Web Page? Can you make the needed updates? I'll come up with a similar post for rec.moto. A formal Call for Checks is expected to go out in about 2 weeks. Start getting your vacation requests in at work now...
