Subject: Quickie RCR Report... From: "Joshua J. Fielek" Date: Mon, 5 Jun 2000 12:11:37 -0400 (EDT) In the fewest words, it was nearly perfect. The KOA was an excellent choice -- far enough from I-75 to be pretty much quiet (although the cows in the adjacent field did keep some folks up), and up on a hillside with a terrific view and a nice breeze. Oh, and the cabins had AC :-). Ed, the owner, was quite accommodating, giving us 9 of 10 cabins and making sure we had whatever we needed. We even had a nice camping area right behind the cabins for the tenters. The weather cooperated to the fullest extent -- a little hot at midday, but with a cool breeze and clear skies. Cool enough that while traipsing about on Saturday I actually had to close the neck on the stich. The roads ranged from the ridiculously technical (downhill steeply off camber right hander) to the simply fun (looooong left hand sweeper). The catering was simply fantastic. Shiloh's Steakhouse provided sirloins, baked potatoes, sweet potatoes, rice, and veggies in volumes huge enough to share with some other bikers that happened to show up. We were also able to give Ed and his wife a nice steak dinner, which went over really well. Mike Sayers made a terrific veggie lasagna and made a heroic effort to correct for my forgetfulness in getting it cooked. Big time thanks to Mike and the crew from Shiloh's. Of course, the RCR wouldn't be as good as it is without the folks that show up. For those who couldn't make it, well, we missed you and hope to see you next year at Dave Lawrence's shindig.
