Somebody said he was. I still agree that > he's just an AI experiment that went terribly, terribly wrong... :-) > ;-). isnt that an inherent feature of all ai experiments? ;-) i think i have managed to almost keep up my non-attendance reputation intact! anyway... my round of 'thanks': i havent been to the other rcr's so i cannot say if jim did a better job, but seeing how things were going without incident made me sure that he certainly was doing an excellent job! thanks jim for putting things together. thanks to chrispy for his acidic remarks on my promises to attend rcr's... that might have been the last straw ;-). who was it that put together excellent coffee to keep the squids more awake and hence cause a marked increase in their cantankerous output on the east list on monday? ian? well no thanks to you, ian! ;-). 10 negative points to martyn and jonK for waiting till after i left to provide the entertainment. i need to get my head examined for saying this, but it was indeed a great pleasure to meet all of you that attended! especially those i have known by name for more than 5 years on the net, but didnt have a clue as to how they looked... now that i do, i wish i had kept it the old way ;-). in this category i can mention charlieS, cliff, edG, and a whole lot of folks i am sure i can list out in a more calm moment! and it was nice to see some of the 'old' faces again (chrisB, deanC, pops, et al) wish i could have hung around a while longer :-(, especially since i bet there were a 100 other folks that i knew from the net and would've really, really loved to meet. we have to do the rcr again next month. ;-). when people get together face to face and chat about things (and especially if one of those things is a motorcycle) life is much more pleasant than when exchanging semi anonymous insults over the internet. as against the vast sea of articles (flames, insults, general noise etc) i see on rec.moto everyday, it was a refreshing change to see smiling friendly people. pictures of incidents i would love to have: - the look on pops face when he walked in and saw me!! - the looks on the faces of some of the people who took one look at me and said '*you* are ravi?'. questions that continue to keep me awake at night: - the buell? whose bike was it? - was cliff paid his dues? - does charlieS really ride a motorcycle? trip report? not much from me. just a series of bad moves: bad move #1: getting a computer account and starting to read rec.moto. but lets not dwell on that... its a long sad story. so skipping over a few years of bad moves we come to: bad move #221: thinking that i could not only go to the rcr, but also meet friends in d.c, virginia and n.c, all in 2 days! bad move #222: realizing above not possible, deciding to start on friday evening, rather than taking monday off! bad move #223: leaving the garbageden state at 7:30 p.m, because it wasnt raining at that moment! ha! the rain was waiting around the corner at exit 7 on the turnpike. bad move #224: deciding to continue riding despite the rain. after about 100 miles or so in steady rain and strange looks from cagers, i hit delaware and pull in for gas. the rains stopped a bit and amidst more curious looks from cagers, i wring the socks, shoes and other garments, extracting gallons of strange brown fluid ;-), get back into my specialty rain gear (plastic bags wrapped around my feet) and continue on. the rain of course resumes and accompanies me all the way into virginia. and so on and so forth... to: bad move #421: getting back on i95 at 2:00 in the afternoon on sunday! after about 10 traffic jams, i am beginning to understand the limitations of the ducati! i did indulge in some heavy lane splitting. hit the new jersey turnpike, and a corvette, eagle talon and porsche want to include me in their race!! luckily the traffic is quite thick and i manage to shrug them off without much trouble. while on 95 i had the chance to witness some interesting accidents. somebodies campers roof and walls blew off resuling in all kinds of personal stuff all over the highway! the only good move i can think of was to attend the rcr anyway! - ravi
