A friend here at UVA that's been to Cass said,

"Tell your biker friends to be careful around the Observatory area;
they bought up the land and prohibit hunting, so there's a deer overload
in the area."

They also prohibit sparkplugs on their grounds, since the sparks interfere
with the telescope reception.  They use diesel vehicles exclusively.  He
said there's a really cool No Spark Plug sign at each gate.  It wasn't
really important, I just wanted to tell you that.
