This is an update on the mysterious Virago knock that entertained us at RCR2. ;-) Just to remind some folks: I noticed the knock somewhere between Knoxville and Bristol. Sometime that afternoon, I missed a downshift, but could not tell you if it was before or after I became aware of the knock. It is a loud knock (can be heard over ear plugs and wind noise at 70mph), that occurs no matter what the engine speed. The knocking matches the engine speed. Running some mystery oil didn't do a thing for the knock. So I changed the oil. The usual silver bits were in there, but no brass ones. Yesterday, I took TheMoped over to the shop. The mechanic had me start the bike. After 5 seconds of running, he gave his guess: rocker arms and cam bearings. Sometime next week the shop is supposed to tear into the engine to see if their guess is right. I'll let you know what is discovered. In the mean time, if anybody wants to offically register a guess *email* me, and I'll let you know who was right. 8-) -- ****************************************************************************** Amy Spiker * 82 Virago 920 + sidecar & knock (TheMoped) Email:amy@spiker.b11.ingr.com* 85 FLT + sidecar (TheBagWagen) ******************************************************************************
