The heat must of done it to my bike. In just around 2000 miles or so it went from full up on a new battery bought this spring (and checked in May) to bone dry in every single cell. Jon Jenkins, who also has a Katana 1100, noted that just from his trip down to Cass in the heat the level in his had noticably dropped. Mine had been from Washington to Cincinnati and back and commuting around northern VA in the high heat. Definitely an encouragement to check it more frequently, though I can never remember having one drink up its juices so fast.
