Am I too damn old to ride the way I do? Probably not. You survived the Spring Fling without any major incident. Wish I could say the same for that bird on that backroad on the north loop (yeah, I know you said you didn't hit it, but.... :-). > 2. Are there major flaws in my riding that can be corrected by the denisons? ^^^^^^^^ Is a "denison" a deer that rides a motorcycle (Denizen + venison = denison)? > 3. Should I sell the R100/7 (I do love it) and buy a GoldWing? No. Not. Nope. Ack. Phhhpppt. > 4. Should I sell the BMW and buy a Harley? (Full dress 60mph top speed) No. Not. Nope. Ack. Phhhpppt. If you bought a Harley, it would have to be a 1200 Sportster, because you'd throttle the rest of us out of jealousy when you caught up at the rest stop at the end of the twisties otherwise. It's in your blood, man. > 5. Should I sell the BMW and buy a FJ1200 (ZX1000, GSXR1000, Ducati, etc)? Now this would be interesting. > 6. Did I really get "Shafted" twice in one weekend? I think the first incident was, as you say, brain fade. The second incident you just pulled a Dave Lawrence ("If I'd known there was going to be a boulder there, I'd have picked a different line!"). Act of God. Coincidence. That's not to say that you wouldn't be able to ride faster and feel more planted and secure on a different mount, but from what I've seen, you seem to be well adapted to the old Bimmer. I think between the heat, the long ride there, and the frosty wheat sodas the two consecutive nights in a row, you just had fatigue, brain fade, and some bad luck. > 7. Did I just run into some "bad" luck? See above. > 8. Should I quit Motorcycling and take up something "safer" like drinking? No. Not. Nope. Ack. Phhhpppt. Drinking is for mild recreation only. It should never be an avocation like motorcycling. I drank my way out of what was turning into a promising long distance running career in college, and I have always regretted that. Twenty pounds later, I am still trying to get back into that kind of shape, and I am depressingly starting to realize that I may never do that. >Well this should start something anyway! Sure enough. >PoPs (aka Bill (Big Squid) Penschow) Heh-heh. That and the ubiquitous right turn signal for left turns ("but I'm turning left--RIGHT HERE!"). Don't beat yourself up too much. Saturday was your fault. Sunday was random bad luck adding insult to injury. Live and learn.
