Sender: east-request@laser.east.sun.com Reply-To: east@laser.east.sun.com Apparently-To: Hello folks, Major thanks and three cheers, etc. to Dean for organinzing. I am back home. Another thousand miles on the K-bike. Amee and I rolled out from Cass about 8:30 Sunday and rode back roads all the way to Sistersville, WV where we took a small ferry (4 cars max) across to Ohio and then straight up Ohio Rt. 800 to Barnesville where I dropped Amee off for here Summer camp. We got to the ferry about noon, had lunch on the Ohio side, and then made it to Barnesville about 2:30. By 3:00 I was back on the bike with helmet and jacket in the saddle bag (since I no longer had to set an example for Amee) and some ice and bottled tea and water in the topcase. Got back to the river about 4:30 and put the helmet back on before crossing back to WV. Sometime at about 5:00 I became aware of being pretty tired, but I pushed on till 5:30 and stopped for dinner. After dinner and an hour's rest I decided to see how far I could go. I jump on the super-slab and wound up the bike to about 75-80. Over 80 it got a little squirly without a passenger and no weight in the bags. As the air cooled down I felt more awake so I kept rolling. I made it to Blacksburg by 10:30. So, where to we go next year? :-) -- * Bill Ranck (703) 231-9503 Bill.Ranck@vt.edu * * Computing Center, Virginia Polytchnic Inst. & State Univ., Blacksburg, Va. *
