It was the best of times (for those with *no* social life) It was the worst of times (for Jonathon Politico) It was the age of wisdom (I was there) It was the age of foolishness (so was Seth) It was the epoch of belief ("I believe I'll have another beer") It was the epoch of incredulity (a *sidecar*?!?) It was the season of Light (the sun was out) It was the season of Darkness (it went down) It was the spring of hope (I hope that chicken cooks) It was the winter of despair (it's been cooking for 47 minutes now...) We had everything before us (good food, good beer, good friends) We had nothing before us (not a terminal or modem to be found) We were all going direct to Heaven (yeah, right) We were all going direct the other way ("Born to be Wi-ild") -- In short, the period was so far like the present period (well, it *was* only two days ago), that some of its noisiest authorities (hey, I resemble that remark!) insisted on its being received, for good or for evil (a binary decision!), in the superlative degree of comparison only (true, compared to the Joust and R&F, the RCR was superlative). This is where I'm supposed to say something like, "with apologies to Charles Dickens," but I make it a habit never to apologize to dead people. --- Ed Green, former Ninjaite |I was drinking last night with a biker, Ed.Green@East.Sun.COM |and I showed him a picture of you.
