Cary NC Subject: Right Coast Ride on a Spagthorpe (Intermission) Summary: Yes, it is a summary At the end of Part 2, it was 3 o'clock and two groups of Denizens who met on the road had arrived at the High Country Cycle Camp... ...and between the time I wrote that sentence and now, I have had no time to get further. I have been working long hard hours, and selling a racecar, and chiefed F&C at a race, and helped (OK watched) my wife put a CD on our French Bulldog, and taught dog training classes, and bought a bike. Part 3 will come eventually (maybe November?), but for those who can't stand it, here's a Soap Opera Digest version: Martyn, Amy, Swane, and Hilary arrive at camp. They meet many Denizens. All start drinking. Martyn rides Amy's sidecar rig -- has fun scaring himself with throttle steer. Martyn brought 6-pack of warm Newcastle Brown (yum!), drank most of it, with some help from Tim Wright and the dog (Martyn finished what the dog left), tasted hot sauce (yum!!). Met more Denizens. Hear tale of Jonathan's drop -- at least three different versions, each more interesting than the one before. Ate. Drank. Photos taken (I'm the one drinking the last Newcie). Drank. Met more Denizens. Talked Guzzis with Mark Cervi. Drank. "Discussed" rec.moto.harley vote with Seth Zirin and Hilary Perkins -- all three of us had already voted, so the only point was to keep everyone awake. About 11:30, I had drunk as much as I could, so had Hilary and (he said) Seth. I seem to recall Ed Green sitting on a bench with a circle of adoring listeners while he told a story. Seth apparently had not drunk enough, he stayed up longer. Next morning, people start leaving early, I grab breakfast while everyone asks me how come I'm so alert (lots of practice drinking is the secret). Everyone trickles out before a group ride can be put together, except for the few who stay Sunday too. I hang around for a while, then give Ed Green a ride to Charlotte Motor Speedway where we watch some races and help in Timing and Scoring for the last one (thanks, Ed!). Collect Susan, drive back to Raleigh in Ford Aerostar (What, no Spagthorpe? :-) :-) ). As for the Spagthorpe Wolfhound, and why I have just bought a bike, that will have to wait for the real Part 3...
