the FarSpace Station.
The latest IFSS projection indicates a protracted standoff at Jusk
-- the IFSS now believes that the initial invasion into Scorpionis has
actually been defeated, and that the Scorpionis over-reaction is based
on a total lack of strategic military expertise. Their massive force
and reasonably sound tactical basis should be capable of holding out for
several years once a second invasion is launched in (probably) mid-1120,
possibly even longer with the likely alliance between Scorpionis and the
Foundation. More dates are not available without further information.
In particular, if the Visitors have captured Jump-3 technology from Scorpionis,
then Jusk can be bypassed and single-point defence becomes impossible.
The emphasis now is on fact-finding beyond Jusk, and a request is sent
to the Karma FarSpace Station for their latest hostile exploratory ship.

decides to throw off the authority of the Brothers and act independently.
Courier service to Lorkin stops. Scorpionis agrees to independence
for Stevvin and Lorkin in return for trading for supplies, on the condition
that talks be started immediately to investigate unification of Scorpionis
and Corona into a new TradeMain Foundation. The Stevvin Ambassador

The IFSS projection shows that the Visitors have bypassed the main
body of Scorpionis and are preparing for a multi-year battle along the
Dulu - Staru - Jusk - Joloch route; it is assumed that they already hold
Dulu and Staru; it is also indicated that the loss of the Scorpionis resource
base will cause deterioration of military capabilities resulting in a loss
of Joloch and an invasion of Hurnarey within two years. The dates

of Staru turns into a war of attrition. No capital ships remain on
either side, most having been lost in a major engagement around the gas
giant P4 -- dangerous debris litters close orbits. The capacity for
space combat is very limited, and the emphasis is now on planetary operations.
Scorpionis forces control the Secondary, after capturing the Visitor base
(and all-important fuel cache) on S2. The worlds of the Primary system
are mostly held by the Visitors, but there is ongoing fighting on the surface
of P3-15, where the Scorpionis Marines have gone to ground in the vegetation
and rough terrain, rendering orbital bombardment ineffective, and continue
to harrass the Visitor troops.
The Scorpionis forces assume they have been outflanked and bypassed,
and rather than waste their few ships to request help (after all, they
themselves were supposed to be the reinforcements!) they reserve all forces
for what they expect to be a drawn-out war for the survival of Scorpionis
-- they believe they are the only remaining fleet, as they have not been
relieved by the major force they knew to be at Jusk.
As for the Visitors, they assume (correctly) that the invasion force
has been defeated at Dulu, as this was its next destination, and are settling
in to hold this system until the next invasion is launched.

DULU: Orders arrive from Scorpiu. The ships are organised into the
victory-fleet, consisting of the least-damaged ships, while the liberty-fleet
contains the more badly damaged ships. All non-fleet spaceships are
commandeered and destroyed.

DARTHLARU, CORUSKA, STING: All technology over Jump-2 is destroyed.

STEVVIN: Orders from Scorpiu are met with open rebellion. The J4
courier is captured, and all remaining ships are impressed into the People's
Revolutionary Warriors. UDI is declared, and the J4 courier is despatched
to Corona to try to get political support.

LORKIN: The Brothers arrive and take command of the resistance forces.
Daily courier communication is arranged with Joloch. The surprisingly
strong military force is mobilised, with the hidden battle fleet at satellite
3-25 coming into the open. No attempt, however, is made to interfere
with standard Corona Foundation operations, which are anyway fairly minor
here.

SCORPIU: News of the Battle of Dulu arrives. The decision is taken
to abandon most of the Scorpionis systems immediately. The government
will relocate to Joloch, travelling with the sting-fleet via Federu to
Jusk, intending to arrive at Joloch on 104-1117. Once relocation
is complete, the Crai and Eddiz fleets will be redeployed to Jusk via Joloch.
The Brothers will leave immediately to join resistance groups on Lorkin
on the J4 yacht Free Press. Messages are sent to all non-occupied
systems by J4 courier to retain control via the official press agency,
and to destroy any technology greater than Jump-2.
Orders are sent to the remaining forces at Dulu to reform as two
fleets: the liberty-fleet is to join the defence of Jusk via Darthlaru
and Federu, while the victory-fleet is to jump to Staru to reclaim the
system or reinforce the coruska-fleet. Dulu is to be left with inoperative
starport and no operational space vehicles or advanced weapons. When
victory-fleet reaches Staru, it is to take what remains of the coruska-fleet
and jump to Jusk, leaving Staru likewise useless and destroying all crops
on the planet.

SCORPIU: Regular contact lost with Staru. Preparations are made to
relocate central government to Joloch, while the Brothers plan a secret
escape to the resistance movement base on Lorkin/Corona. Joloch will be
annexed by the crack scorpiu-fleet, while the remaining military forces
will make a massive stand at Jusk. The civilian populations will
not be told of the invasion and will be abandoned to their own devices.
The ambassador to the Corona Foundation is be instructed to announce Joloch's
new allegiance as planned for 102-1117.

SCORPIU: William Rufus hears all this from the agent in the press (except
the Brothers' destination), but his source will soon be no longer available
because of the relocation; he decides to leave Scorpionis soon while still
possible, returning to Karakus/Corona.

Message is sent to Scorpiu, telling of the major victory over alien invaders
and the heavy losses.

STARU: visitor-infiltrator-fleet arrives from Faranu. A combination
of orbital bombardment and ground troop landings secure civilisation centres
on Staru itself, starport is captured for Visitor use while surrounding
city levelled, agricultural workers enslaved to supply the visitor forces.
The colony on P2-8 surrenders, and is captured intact for research purposes.
The Visitors consolidate their position in the system, establishing other
bases on P3-15 and S2.

the staru-fleet, instructions must be requested from Scorpiu. Message
is sent.

DULU: Massed visitor-invasion-fleet begins to arrive at Dulu, where it
is met effectively by dulu-fleet, staru-fleet, darthlaru-fleet, and faranu-fleet
in the Battle of Dulu. All colonies around the secondary are destroyed,
and there are some casualties on Dulu from non-targeted missile attacks
from System range.
