Time - Date Equivalences

(Significant Equivalences)

Locals on Nakege keep time by the primary sun, while the secondary determines the seasons.
Midsummer is when the mainworld is between the primary and secondary, midwinter is when the secondary is on the far side of the primary.  In spring, the secondary stays up after sunset; in autumn, the secondary rises before the primary.
The year is based on the synodic period, celebrating the new year at Midsummer Day when the whole world is lit by the two suns.  The year is 0.24533 Imperial Years, which is almost exactly 81 (81.09887) local days.  Instead of using the leap year system common throughout most of the Imperium, Nakege resets all the clocks and calendars at noon on Midsummer Day, an official holiday.  That time is called the Clocking Hour and is an occasion for a celebratory countdown and traditional bourbon toast.
There are no official time zones.  Technically while every settlement should therefore have a slightly different time, based on the Clocking Hour for that longitude, in practice everyone keeps time as set at Crow Time.  The exception would be the Marquisate Palace, which has its own Clocking Hour about three hours earlier than Crow.  There is currently no official time practice for the Marquisate Lodges, which can keep Marquisate Time, Crow Time, or have their own Clocking Hour depending on local preference.

Actual time works on the Watch System, an ancient system of time used by wet navies on Terra.  Bells ring through the town of Crow to signal every half local hour.  Each local hour consists of 60 local minutes, which consists of 60 local seconds.  There are 24 local hours in the day of 26.5 Imperial hours.  The local second is therefore a little over 10% longer than the equivalent Imperial unit.
